So Luceti...what exactly makes a person real or not? What qualities and characteristics mean that a person exists instead of just being a weird figment? Trust me, it's important.

[ Xion sort of instinctively looks around for Sanji, wondering if he's here tonight and if that would even make any sort of difference, but doesn't spot him regardless. She's silent for a moment after Roxas sits him down, trying to figure out what's got him so worked up. ]

No, I saw him with the mask off. I just... I know he looks like Sora, but... he's not like Sora. And since I didn't have his name, I thought it'd be easier to describe him by... [ she makes a vague hand gesture obviously meaning "the helmet." ]

You know what I think? [He doesn't even really stop to give her time to answer.] It's weird that both he and Ventus showed up right after Sora left. What if Vanitas took over Sora's body and is really controlling him? And what about Ventus? What the heck is that all about? What if they're both here just to destroy both of us since they already got Sora?

...but I would know if that were true. A lot of the stuff he's said? I don't recognize any of it.

Funny, I thought there was a difference between being alive and being dead.

for a loooooong moment, Xion says nothing, but she's staring at him rather blankly. truth be told, she thinks these theories are rather insane -- and while she could be convinced, she doesn't buy them right now. ]

... You know, at first, I wondered if they were both Replicas. But Vexen only ever mentioned two, and Ventus didn't even know what a Replica was. [ a beat ] I don't think Ventus would do anything to hurt us. He seemed really confused, but not ... bad. Vanitas... I don't know. He acted nice, but... Anyway, that's not the point. I asked him if he'd ever met Sora, and he said no. If he really had taken over Sora's body... what point would there be to lying about it now? Since he looks just like Sora and everything... it'd be a stupid thing to lie about. It must be something else. I just don't know what...

[Well he's already had Axel say he's freaking out too much, but after the things that he's heard from both Ventus and Vanitas, well, he can't help but be a little freaked.]

Maybe it's not something that Vexen would know about. I think Ventus is from even further in the past than we know. That's what he made it sound like anyway. [He just gawks at her though.] Nice? Vanitas? Are you kidding?!

[blink-- oh hey, he'd been just starting one of those]

Yeah, I do. He told me how he came to be. [frank, and in a tone that doesn't find this perturbing. Firmly] If you're question was about someone like him, I'd say he's perfectly human-- for all his circumstance.

Well... people can come from pretty different points in time, here... I guess it could be years. I wonder if it's the same for Vanitas... it still doesn't explain why either of them look so familiar, tho-- [ she blinks when he cuts her off ... though doesn't seem terribly surprised, her mouth settling into a line. ]

Even though Ratatosk more or less shares Emil's body in a way? Even though some people would consider Emil fake because he was created?

It doesn't matter, though Vanitas and Ventus are very well-aware of each other, so that makes it more likely. [His face mirrors hers then.]

Perhaps he's from a time far ahead or far after you.

I can see why people might think of it that way, or have a different name to call him by.

But the person I've spoken to very clearly fears, and hopes, and loves like any being with a human heart-- regardless of being "created". After all, every living thing is created by something.

So in the end, those other facts are just details to the truth of his existence. [it's clear in his voice that this is a subject he's had to give long thought to, in the past.]

Maybe...maybe something happened and I had to change my name.

...trust me, I get that. Probably more than people would think. And in Emil's case, you're right. I didn't even know that he was anything less than human when I first met him. If you don't think about him in terms of Ratatosk, he's just normal. And that means he's real? [When using Emil as an example, this makes a lot more sense than trying to use himself or Xion or Repliku, even.]

That's very possible. That happens quite often in my country, too.
