So Luceti...what exactly makes a person real or not? What qualities and characteristics mean that a person exists instead of just being a weird figment? Trust me, it's important.

It's a person. He was an old philosopher, thinking about what was real was pretty much his thing.

I guess. It makes sense to me, and it applies to... whatever the hell you're going on about up there. The act of doubting proves you have thought, and that thought means there's something doing the thinking, and that something must be you.

But anything can think and be considered real even if it's not, right?

[In this case, with the way he said it, Paru assumes it is either Roxas talking about himself or a girlfriend (or boyfriend, i suppose), but figures that himself is more likely.]

What isn't real that can think?

Okay, monsters don't exist where I'm from, so he didn't have anything to say on the subject. What are these monsters like?

They can fight and they can attack, most of them can't talk but they all have the same kind of goal. They feed off of the darkness and manifest that way. [Which in Roxas' head makes complete and total sense.]

Okay, I'll ignore how stupid that is for a minute and play along. Any animal can fight or attack, and have goals, but they don't think. They just are.

They have to have some sort of thought process going on to know how to attack an enemy instead of attacking their own kind though, get it?

Ants don't attack others in their own hill, and they don't think.

Can you prove that ants don't think?

... Well, not here, but back home, yes.

How would you prove that back where you're from?

Well, I'd look it up somewhere, and check the experiments done to prove it, and replicate that if I had the means. But animals except for humans aren't really sapient. Bugs especially.

People from your world really experiment on ants? [Roxas, that's probably not the point.]

Well, yeah. Just observational science has limits. [No, but it's an interesting one.]

...what other limits are there? [Sorry, Paru, you've pinged Roxas' curiosity.]

You just said science has limits. What kind?

Well, by the tools we have, for one. We can't figure out lots of things without tools designed for it, and they aren't foolproof. And, of course, there's the problem that it's all done by people.

The tools thing makes sense, but...what about if it were all done by something else? Not people. Would that make a difference?

In my world, at least, there's nothing but people that can do it. Computers, no matter how smart they get, are still only able to do what they're told to do, and animals, like I said, don't think.
