Sixty-Fourth Keychain - Written

I only have one simple question for everybody.

[Which is a surprise in and of itself. For Roxas, who generally asks lots of questions and pokes and prods at everything, simple isn't exactly something that fits in his vocabulary.]

What do you do when you've run out of things to do? [A pause.] I mean I've been here for 1,558 days. My cat refuses to keep up his painting and skateboarding lessons. ~~Axel's still gone, and Xion has Luke.~~ Time...moves really fast, and I guess I'm just now noticing.

At least it's close to Christmas again. I've really grown to like the snow and the holiday, maybe almost as much as Sora. Heh. All right, I don't think anyone can love Christmas as much as he can. That'll be something to keep me busy for a while, but what then? I think I've read almost every book in the library by now. Is there more that I can learn still, or does it all just stop?

Anyway, I don't really expect an answer, but I'd appreciate it if anyone had some advice.

The first three make the most sense, but it's the last one that I never thought you'd be interested in.

If I see a clown, I'll decide what to do with him myself.

At least learning to skateboard is an improvement. Fetching just seems like a downgrade.

Yes. Would it be all right if I come over to show you in person?

[Because you know. it's easier]

I suppose it would seem unusual to you, as we have only spoken when I have been without my memories. However, now that I have regained them, my interests have changed to a certain degree.

[Hopefully that makes a touch more sense.]

I'm not here to gloat, and I'm definitely not the strongest guy out there. I just figure that I could put my skills to good use and help people who either don't have much combat experience or don't have magic to back them up.

Right now?

[Yep. Lots more sense.]

When did this happen?

...if you think someone out there can benefit from you, sure. Go ahead. But it's probably a good idea to get stronger yourself.

Would a later time be preferable?

No. No, now's fine. My place or somewhere else?

If you're currently at home I can go there. If not the library will suffice.

I'm home. Come on over, Nea and I are just in the kitchen.

I will be there shortly then.

[AND CLOSING THE JOURNAL NOW. It takes her a little while since she has to gather her notes, put them neatly into her bag and walk over there but once she's there, she knocks on the door and peeks her head inside.]

Roxas-kun?

[He doesn't respond to the journal but instead goes about his business while he waits for Naoto to show. When she appears in the doorway of the house, he just yells back from the kitchen.]

Come on in. We're in the kitchen. [We, of course, being himself and his cat.]

Are you teaching Nea to paint again? [Saying as she comes in, takes off her shoes (Japanese custom is still a thing) and makes her way towards the kitchen]

Not right now, that's for tomorrow. [When she enters the kitchen, she'll see Roxas at the table with a plate in front of him with half a sandwich on it. Nea's got the other half of the sandwich that he's eating from another plate. Roxas also has a deck of cards in front of him spread into various piles. Somehow, someway, he's learned how to play Solitaire.] How's it going?

[Well she expected him to try it again at some point in time. She can't say that him giving his cat a sandwich is that much of a surprise too. He spoils him. The cards are a nice surprise though.]

Fair, I suppose. [She pets Nea on the back a little before taking off her bag and putting it on an empty chair] Have you received any answers that can be deemed helpful to you?

[Of course he does. And Nea likes it that way. He arches his back at Naoto's touch and Roxas shrugs as he lays down another card on one of the piles.]

I think I just signed up to work on a boat.

[She raises an eyebrow at that but chuckles]

Did you? Have you ever before?

Never. But it can't be that hard, you know? It'll be better than this.

Well, I do hope you find it to be enjoyable and gain new experiences it from it. Work such as that seems to be interesting at the very least.

[To be honest, she's a little sad he's moving away from mysteries and has grown tired of them but she won't let it show. As long as he's happy, so is she.]

[It's not so much that as that he's so focused on just one mystery.] You make it sound like that's the only thing I'm going to focus on.

I assumed you were. You've grown bored of all else, haven't you?
