[here have a Roxas tied to a tree in the middle of the forest and wrapped up in bright Christmas lights with 'Merry Christmas!' and snowmen painted on his face, definitely not looking happy. feel free to find him like this. Also, he's got a skateboard laying next to him as a present from the Mally-peoples, but that's not his main problem]

...YUFFIE!

[grumbles]If I don't get down, nobody's getting presents. [yes, he broke down and picked out presents for Aros, Sora, Yuffie, Bella, Fina, and even a little something for Cloud, Xigbar, and Salt]

[you work fast Cloud. Moves away from the tree, scratching at his face a bit cause this paint itches man but otherwise is okay now] How do you put up with it?

Well...we kind of kept to ourselves for the last two years. [Cloud does not mention that "we" means "I," and starts over to where he passed a little branching stream, figuring that Roxas wants to get that paint off.] Before that, we were a little too busy with other things to play a lot of pranks.

[follows Cloud] Yeah, she kind of told me. About a war and Mako and people in coffins for thirty years.

... [Pause.

...continue.] Yeah, that's about right.

Interesting stuff. Sounds kind of like what Sora was doing, saving the world and all.

Yeah, it sounds nice when you put it that way. I'm pretty sure that's what the others were doing, at least. [Here's the stream Cloud passed, if Roxas wanted to wash his face off until he gets home to some soap.]

[sits on the ground and starts trying to wash the paint off] But it's not nice. It's a lot of...turmoil. Darkness.

It's not really saving the world. [Cloud crouches beside Roxas. Kid sounds like he knows what he's talking about.] Everyone does something because they have a hand in it.

[still occupying himself with trying to get snowmen off his face but has a thoughtful expression] It's more...trying to fix things you helped mess up in the first place, if that makes sense at all?

[...oh yes. That makes a lot of sense. Especially when recalling the Black materia.]

Sounds about right.

I don't know a lot about being a "hero", or saving the world. I just know what Sora knows, and I know what happens when two parties are too blinded by their own goals to see all they're doing is screwing up even more. People have to reach the bottom before they can start trying to fix things, try to save the world. Or, worlds, in some people's case.

Everything bad starts with a misunderstanding. [Cloud's murmuring and letting his fingers drift in the water.] Makes me wonder if there really is such a thing as the bad guy sometimes.

...really, the only true enemy we have is ourselves. It's our own thoughts and our own actions that cause bad things to happen.

So if someone else does something clearly wrong... [Cloud picks up a rock, drops it into the stream.] Is that their fault, my fault or someone else's fault?

Depends. How much interaction did you have with the person? Is what they did wrong something that affects just them, just you, or the whole world? [finishes washing most of the paint off and just sits next to the stream, watching the water flow and Cloud's rock sink to the bottom]

...I don't know yet. Technically, the whole world, but... [Cloud drops another rock.]

...are you talking about that Sephiroth guy? [yes, Yuffie told Roxas about Sephy]

Not this time. [Cloud stands; the conversation is hitting a little too close to home for his comfort.]

[just sort of makes a noise of agreement, barely looking at Cloud before continuing] ...then sometimes, you have to be a hero whether you want to be or not.

...Come on, village is this way.

[gets to his feet, still looking rather contemplative about the whole thing]

[The walk to the village is probably a very quiet one, then, and Cloud turns to part ways with Roxas once they hit the treeline.]

If you need a hand getting back at her, let me know. I still owe her for something a while back.

I'll let you know...she's definitely not going to expect it, that's for sure. [suddenly blinks as he remembers something] Oh, I have something for you. [proceed Roxas digging through his pockets before handing Cloud a copy of The Night Before Christmas]

[Cloud blinks and takes the book in surprise, glancing down at the cover.]

Hmm...think of it as a Christmas present, to explain what Christmas actually is. You don't have to keep it if you don't want to, I just thought maybe you'd like to know.
