They could have at least made me full-sized.

They're only in our heads once we junction them. Junctioning a GF lets you summon them, but they take up residence in your memories. As for junctioning... it's kind of like making a pact with the GF.

So it's more or less fighting with a partner but you're physically doing everything?

Basically. Having a GF junctioned also lets you use magic.

Well...you kind of just gradually learn magic skills. We're free to do spells without summons. And our summons are a lot smaller.

Hmm...one healed. And one of them threw baseballs. One was kind of a fire summon but he was pretty small. Other stuff like that.

The fire one sounds kind of like Ifrit, and Cactuar attacked with needles...

That's what cactuars do. They're like cacti but they move.

Do you have to have special abilities to begin with to use your summons or can anyone use them?

Anyone can, but a lot of the time you have to defeat the GF in combat before it'll join you.

...so basically you end up having to deal with fire and needles being thrown at you before it'll become an ally?

We do that normally. A lot of monsters can use some kind of magic.

Same with our world, the monsters I mean. Just, our summons usually don't attack us.

There is another way to acquire GFs. But you need to have a GF first.
