So...if people you know are keeping secrets from you, should you bother asking them about it until they cave in, or just believe them when they say it's for your own good? How would you know it's for your own good...actually, how would they know? It's your good, not theirs, right?

Regardless of the path of action you can only truly know one outcome. You can't ever compare, only make what seems to be the best decision at the time.

I'm sure most people have. And most people have probably been on both ends at one point. When people care for others they can become selfish in their desire to protect others.

What about the parts that you are allowed to?

[It is more about Axel, so please ignore the fact that he sounds surprised that Xion's answering.]

There are a lot of confusing things anyway. [ A pause on his own end. ] A lot of reasons count as real reasons.

Roxas, nothing you could have done would have stopped it.

[ don't mind her, man. she feels guilty for all the times she's kept secrets from him anyway, both at home and in Luceti. she feels like she owes him too, even if that's not really true. still, she'll skirt around that part for now. ]

Did you talk to him? [ the "him" being sort of obvious and assumed. ]

Even during those times when you make a decision without knowing the outcome? Does that count?

That's why I asked. Why do they become selfish? It doesn't make sense.

I would say so, yes. Especially then, because you don't know the outcome you can't know which one would have been better. But you can only embrace those choices and believe in the path you walk.

...because they don't realise it's selfish. In trying to protect someone sometimes you end up hurting them.

I didn't say that you could. It just makes me wonder what else you're still keeping from me. [He makes his own pause then.]

Axel, have you ever told me the whole truth the entire time we've been friends?

[ ... what more could you possibly want from me ): ]

That's good... if he did, then I don't think there's anything left you don't know about... that I know of, anyway. Axel's always been kind of mysterious.

I think that's everything I was missing, but you know how Axel is.

Yeah. Because they're there to cover up the other reasons.

So basically there's really no way to avoid it?

You get angry at them, you make your choices and they learn. The opposite is also true. It's because people care that it can be painful, difficult, frustrating, sometimes. But there are other things as well, right?

...people need to stop being so confusing.

That would probably make things a lot easier.

That's one way to look at it, but it just seems a lot more complicated than that.

Too bad it's not that simple, huh?

It's always complicated when there are other people involved. Believe in your friend's intention but also believe in your own convictions. You'll find a middle ground somehow.
