Fifty-Second Keychain - [Voice/Action]

[Roxas has spent the last few weeks doing a great impression of a chameleon, blending in with his surroundings and making sure not many people saw or heard from him. But he's come to find that he can't keep hiding, and he can't keep running.

Thus, today, nearly three weeks after the attack on KH house and a week after Sanji revealed the location of the house to him, Roxas has finally decided to approach home to try and face his two best friends.

...or...not. To anyone passing by, they might see Roxas just pacing back and forth in the area, never straying far from what appears to be an empty lot. To anyone who can see the house however, it's very clear what's going on.]

This really shouldn't be that hard.

[Soon though he stops and pulls out his journal, leaning against a tree to keep an eye on the house while he flips to a new page. He takes a few moments to gather his thoughts, but soon he speaks into the journal.]

...anybody have any good advice for making apologies?

You guys probably won't have to worry about him, though. It's me he's after.

Why is that anyway? He sort of hinted, but...[Well, Roxas was more concerned with other things.]

... yeah. [ she'll lead the way inside, quiet now. she's got a whole maelstrom of emotions going on, but ... well, she'll let them get out of the cold first. once they're in the house, she'll head for her room, motioning for him to follow. ]

It has something to do with my "purpose". I don't know much about it, but... he's a part of me, and I guess he wants to forge some kind of χ-blade.

[Which is pronounced just like Keyblade!]

[He follows behind her quietly, making no sudden moves once they get to her room. He does close the door though, leaning against it and watching her.]

...did you tell me about this before by chance? [Because yeah, sounds a lot like Keyblade.]

I don't think it's like other Keyblades. The words sound the same, but it's probably something else.

Vanitas can already use a Keyblade, so there's gotta be more to it.

[ she walks into the room, and keeps her back to him even after he closes the door. she's not sure how to begin. but ... begin she will. ]

You know... I had a lot of time to think, while you were gone. Too much. And Vanitas... I think he's just evil. He did all of that for fun... in fact, he told me so. [ shifts her shoulders, trying to shake off the crawling feeling of disgust.

she moves over to her bed, taking a seat, but still not looking up at him. ]

I think ... he'd probably have laughed if he knew you'd left because of what happened. And I ... I don't want to give him that satisfaction. [ shakes her head. ] Roxas... what happened was Vanitas's fault, not yours. You didn't tell him to attack us. He just took the opportunity and then tried to pin the blame on you so we'd all be mad at each other. I'm sure he liked that...

But I don't want to play his game. [ ... finally looks up at him. ] ... no matter what happens, you're always going to be my best friend. Okay?

[He doesn't move from his place from the door, listening to Xion closely. As she progresses with her train of thought, he starts to relax more and more. It wasn't his fault. Xion didn't blame him anymore. Vanitas was just an asshole.]

I...thanks, Xion. Really. [He pauses, licking at his lips slowly as he lets his own thoughts catch up.] Vanitas is somebody we're going to have to be really careful of from now on. We have to work together to stop him, don't we? I don't want to play his game either. We're not going to let him win.

You and Axel are...really important to me. I'm not going to let anything else happen. I promise.

I know he can use one, so you're probably right. Why does it have to use you though?

There's still a lot I don't understand. Maybe it's because me and Vanitas are connected-- he called me a cast-off and said something about who I used to be. I know it's probably got something to do with my memories, but I wish I knew what he meant.

[He pauses, though, trying to piece this together.]

Whatever it is, though, it's probably dangerous. The real reason why I couldn't leave home was because of the χ-blade; that's what Aqua told me. If that's true, then I can't let it be created.

Right...that makes enough sense. [What is it with people he knows being used to create things? Seriously.]

We're going to do what we can to stop Vanitas and make sure he doesn't get ahead. I've already decided that.

You guys don't have to get involved. I don't want anyone else getting hurt because of him.

Yeah, well, we're already involved. Don't worry about it.

[Hmm.]

I guess if we work together, he'd be outmatched. Vanitas is strong, but I don't think he'd be able to handle all of us. Not when there's only one of him.

Exactly. We've got enough people on our side that can outwit him given the chance. We just have to be careful and work together.

The only problem's that he'll probably try to get me when I'm all alone.

I guess if that happens, I could always leave.

Has he tried that yet?

Lots of times. The first time I fought him, he dragged me out into the Badlands, and every time I see him here, it's when I'm on my own.

So basically he's stalking you. Suddenly everything just got a little creepier.

[...It all makes sense now.]

I bet you're right.

Man...maybe it's time to start investing in a body guard or something.

I dunno, that might be kinda tough. I know it's safer to be with my friends, but I don't wanna be a burden to anyone.

Sometimes you have to be, as much as that sucks. I think your friends would rather you be safe than wandering free and open to attack.

[ she nods, slowly. ] Why do you think I had the house hidden? I didn't want him to be able to get in. He can still find us in the village, but... at least, while we're in here, we're safe.

[ but ... she'll listen to the rest of that in silence for a moment. she still looks kind of sad. ] ... just be careful, okay? But ... I believe you. [ smiles, still a little sad, but -- she's smiling. ] I know you won't.
