Fifty-Sixth Keychain - [Voice/Action]

Man, what's up with this heat wave? Like three days last week and now the second day in a row this week? Axel, maybe you had it right. The ocean's sounding pretty good right now. It's probably too late in the day to get out there though.

[And maybe Axel was right about a few other things. Mainly, Roxas needs to be more of a teenager and less of researcher. So today he's taken the redhead's advice and enlisted in some tomfoolery of his own.

It just happens to be in the form of water balloons. A whole bucket of them, and he's sitting next to them outside of what would be KH house if it was visible to everyone.]

So...I've got a bunch of water balloons that are dying to be popped. Who's up for a fight? Some of you actually don't have a choice, but I'm pretty sure you know who you guys are.

[Don't ask him; he read about it in a book.]

There's a giant bucket of balloons. I'd say we're pretty open to just about everyone.

I'm heading into the center of town to grab a few more people who wanted to play. I can meet you there?

[And, indeed, by the time Roxas arrives at the designated playing site, he will find Lina up somewhere with a good vantage point, looking around for him.]

Right. Meet ya there!

[He closes the journal and heads into town, keeping his eyes peeled not only for the others he was collecting but for Lina as well. He doesn't know her name, but he vaguely remembers an incident with her and a sandwich so she's not too hard to find. He approaches and waves.]

Hey. You're on time.

[Lina waves enthusiastically as soon as she spots Roxas, dropping neatly out of the tree she'd clambered up to hurry over.]

Yep! When there's a way to beat the heat to be had, you can definitely count on me. [She darts over to examine the water balloons.]

You seem quite a bit livelier than you did last time I saw you. How're you feeling?

[He blinks in surprise as she drops down next to him. He's only got a few of the balloons with him. Roxas' thinking was bringing everyone back to "the empty lot" where house 14 was hidden. A lot more space and less likely to hit people with balloons and make them mad. But he was considerate enough to bring a few for her in the meantime.]

Glad you see it that way. [There's a slightly sheepish grin when she says the last piece though.] Better. A lot better. Back to normal, at least. Sorry about your sandwich.

[She takes one of the balloons, bouncing it speculatively from hand to hand.]

It was a good sandwich. [A petulant frown creases her face.] But hey, I'm really glad that wasn't normal for you. You're way less creepy this way.

I'm Lina, by the way. In case you forgot. Lina Inverse.

I'll make it up to you later. [He shrugs a little.] Thanks, I think.

Lina...nice to really meet you. I'm Roxas. Can't remember if I managed to get that far the first time we met.

Don't think you did. [She pats him companionably on the shoulder.] So hey, might as well make sure. Nice to meet ya, Roxas!

I didn't think so. That whole week was just a mess...sorry for anything I did.

But hey, fresh start. We've got a place out this way where there's a lot of space to run around and places to hide to bombard other people with the balloons.

Fresh start! Glad to hear it, Roxas! [Lina punches the air with the hand holding the water balloon.] Already got a place picked out, huh? Excellent forethought, Roxas! Lead me to it!

[Whoa! Enthusiastic isn't she? He'll just grin though and pick up the bucket again, turning to head back toward the clearing he picked out.] I thought it was a pretty good idea. Come with me.

[So enthusiastic, Roxas. So enthusiastic you have no idea. Lina will follow along, continuing to toss the water balloon from hand to hand, humming to herself, until she accidentally drops it on the ground and manages to spray its contents all over herself.]

Pfffffffttt!

...[And Roxas? Roxas is just going to stare at her for a moment before he starts laughing.]

Hey, who said you could get a head start?

[Sputtering, with her hair plastered flat to her head, it's when Lina begins to shake herself dry that the resemblance to an overdone poodle is completed. She scowls when she sees Roxas laughing.] H-Hey, don't...it was an accident! Cut that out! Unless you want a nice headstart on the dousing right along with me?

[He's just watching that hair. What the--] I think my hair would still look a little better than yours if I did. It's not that bad, seriously.

[Wringing it out now.]

Your hair's shorter, Roxy. That doesn't count.

Yeah I kn--hey. Not that nickname.

[...blink, blink.]

Oooooookay. No nicknames. Gotcha. I'll just stick with Roxas, then. That's cool. Roxas. It's not a half bad name, anyway.

...you're hair's still shorter than mine, Roxas, so quit making fun of me.

Roxy just sounds weird, that's all. And thanks...I think.

Anyway, I know. I'm not really making fun of you, it just looks kind of silly. That's all.

I meant it as something you should thank me for, Roxas. [Which is to say...it was meant as a compliment, even if it didn't come off that way.]

...I believe ya. This time. [She throws an arm around his shoulder as they walk again.] So where are we going?

Okay fine, thanks then. [He's starting to get that sometimes Lina says things he doesn't quite get.]

Just this time? [He raises an eyebrow at the arm, but he doesn't do anything.] We're going back to my h--[Hold on. Probably not a good idea to tell people you're going to your specially-hidden house.] Just an empty lot. Lots of room to run and everything.

I don't know you that well. The last time we talked, you wouldn't stop staring at my sandwich.

Empty lot, huh? Well, this place definitely has plenty of those.

The last time we talked, I had no idea what a sandwich was.

The rules are there are no rules, but try not to snap rubber in people's eyes. It just sounds really painful. We've got a bunch of buckets of balloons and your goal is to hit everyone you possibly can. Sound fair?
