[When the feed clicks on, there's a few moments of silence as Roxas thinks of how to phrase his question. He had been mulling this over for a while now, and he still wasn't any closer to getting an answer. ...man...Axel would know. Roxas really does miss the redhead sometimes, but each day's getting a little better. Sora, too, but that's an even longer process. It always helped to have something else to throw himself into though, and this was the perfect example.]

Um...hi. [Well, it's a start.] So...where I come from, birthdays aren't really something that are celebrated. Sure, we kind of get older, but nobody really acknowledges it. There's no big celebration, no presents, nothing like that. I've been here for over three years and I still don't really get it, I guess.

...anyway, there's this girl. She's a really good friend of mine, and I want to do something nice for her for her birthday. It's at the end of the week. I know that doesn't give me a lot of time, but it's really important it's something special. I guess what I'm asking is...who has a good idea? [Because he sure as hell doesn't.] Thanks in advance.

Weather's better today. Maybe I should get out of the library for a while. [Think, think, think...oh!] Hey, Luke! Wanna test out those roller blades? Get back to me, I'm bringing them outside anyway.

Mysteries. Definitely mysteries. She likes books where she can't solve the ending right away so she can do it as she reads.

[More than likely! By the time she arrives, Roxas is just idly skating in circles with the roller blades in his hand still as he waits. This means that he may not see her right away.]

[Instead of calling out, Ami opts to wait slightly out of the way, but easily in the line of sight when Roxas makes the right turns.]

[When he looks up then, he spots here and lifts his free hand in a wave. He'll easily guide his board over to her and roll to a gentle stop.]

Hey there. Thanks for coming.

You skateboard very well. [This isn't much of a greeting, of course, and she quickly provides the formalities as well.]

It wasn't any trouble to come; it's nice to see you.

Heh, thanks. [There's a slightly sheepish grin appearing with the compliment.] I used to skateboard a lot back home.

Good to see you, too. I'm really curious to hear your suggestions.

I thought she might like Sherlock Holmes. He's very famous.

Yeah...yeah, definitely! She's read a few of the Sherlock books before, I bet she'd love copies of her own.

I suppose English is alright... it should be translated for her like other things here.

With how things work in this place, it should be perfect.

Maybe something by Edogawa Rampo. I've looked up information about him; he was a pioneer of the detective story when it began to arise in Japan.

Really? I've never heard of him. [Probably because you're not from Japan, Roxas.] Does he have a lot of work?

Yes, he's very well known; and if his work is similar, it's because he admired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes very much.

Mimicking is the most sincere form of flattery, right? I'm sure she'll love it if I can find some of his books.

That's right; and our influences and inspirations can still lead to new ideas of our own.
